Abu Dhabi Media Company CEO named Media Businessman of the Year at the MENA Cristal Festival

Created as the first advertising festival for the Middle Eastern & North African region, the MENA Cristal Festival was held in the famous mountains of Mzaar Kfardebiane(Lebanon) from 1 to 5 February 2010. For this 5th edition, the Festival has welcomed leading personalities and influencers of the media industry.
Edward Borgerding Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Media Company, has been rewarded Media Businessman of the year . On this occasion, he presented his views on The emergence of the digital and the transformation of the Media business through three assertions: power of the pipe, big change in the distribution of contents, pushing the cross media.
He declared: I am honored to accept this award, which is a testament to the hard work of my colleagues and also to the vision of the leaders of Abu Dhabi and ADMC, said Edward Borgerding, CEO of Abu Dhabi Media Company. The award is the culmination of an eventful year that saw ADMC push the envelope with exciting new launches and I have no doubt that 2010 will see even more groundbreaking developments. It is also gratifying to note that all our efforts are reflected in Abu Dhabi s growing stature as a regional and globally recognized hub for media excellence and innovation.
The highlight of this 5th edition has obviously been the exceptional conference held by Mikhail Gorbachev, former President of the USSR and founder of Green Cross International, on a critical matter: Bringing down the walls between the present and the future .
The delegates also enjoyed high level exchanges with some of the best experts of the advertising and communications business.
John Merrifield, creative at Large for TBWAAsia Pacific, was President of the MENA Jury and managed the judging with his peers to celebrate the best of creativity in the region.
Richard Pinder, Chief Operating Officer of Publicis Worldwide, was President of the Festival and led the deliberations to choose the Grand Cristal of the Festival . He also held a conference on Contagious ideas that change the conversation .
He declared: As Middle East and North African countries become increasingly confident in their own culture and their own ability to communicate in ways that are breaking the norms, they are finding their own voice. Recognition and celebration of great communication is now more crucial than ever .
As well, the Festival has paid a tribute to Yann Arthus Bertrand, Photographer, Reporter, Director and Ecologist, for his film about climate change Home which has also been broadcasted during the event.

The MENA Cristal Festival has been created in 2005 as a continuation of the Cristal Festival in Europe (formerly called Meribel Ad Festival) with the aim of introducing a new and ambitious competition in advertising for all North African and Middle Eastern countries.
