Hazem Farah Kakish
General Counsel, Abu Dhabi Media Company
Hazem Kakish was appointed General Counsel of Abu Dhabi Media Company's Legal Department in early 2008. In his role heading up the legal team, he is responsible for all legal, advisory and consultancy matters relating to the company's media and commercial activities ensuring that the company's image and rights are well protected.
Prior to joining Abu Dhabi Media Company, Kakish was a Senior Legal Consultant for a leading UAE law firm, Al Tamimi & Company, for over seven years. During his tenure with the firm, he advised on anti-counterfeiting strategies, managed the legal profile for several key industries in the GCC and Middle East region and was actively involved in copyright protection and lobbying with the authorities. He was instrumental in the establishment of the UAE Intellectual Property Unit at Dubai Customs and active in the enforcement of rights on a regional level.
Kakish's first role after graduating was at law firm Farah Kakish in Amman, Jordan, where he provided advice on general commercial, intellectual property and litigation matters. Kakish then completed his masters in law (LLM) at the Franklin Pierce Law Centre, New Hampshire specialising in Intellectual Property. He completed an internship at the World Intellectual Property Organisation prior to joining Al Tamimi.
He has over 14 years experience advising companies in the Middle East on general commercial, intellectual property and litigation matters and is a member of the Jordanian Bar Association in Amman, where he holds a professional membership.
